India celebrates Children’s Day on every 14th of November month. Children’s Day marks the birth anniversary of Jawahar Lal Nehru, famously known as Chacha Nehru. As known to us, Nehru jee was a huge fond of children and hence we celebrate his birthday as Children’s Day.

1) Children’s Day, also known as Bal Diwas aims to spread awareness about the rights and education of children in India.

2) The Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20th. India celebrated Children’s Day on November 20th until the demise of Chacha Nehru.

3) After the demise of Chacha Nehru, in 1964 it was unanimously decided to mark his birth anniversary as Children’s Day every year.

4) Although the United Nations established November 20th as Universal Children’s Day, even then 50 countries celebrate the same on June 1.

5) Many countries celebrate Children’s Day, but Britain does not do so.

6) The first ever Children’s day was celebrated in the year 1954.

7) The idea of Children’s Day was brought up by Dr. V.K Menon, the famous Indian nationalist, politician.
